Maryce has a magic touch for massage. She spent the last three years delving into the specialisation of reflexology also known as foot mapping.
The Chinese believe that reflexology works with the central nervous system to stimulate the body into healing itself. It improves circulation, reduces stress, pain and restores natural balance.
Research by Sir Henry Head and Sir Charles Sherrington in the 1890s, showed that a neurological relationship exists between the skin and the internal organs, and that the whole nervous system adjusts to a stimulus.
Reflexology focuses on points in the feet that represent parts of the body, and the micro-movement techniques create a response throughout the body. This enhances overall relaxation, helps for better functioning of organs, and increases blood supply which brings additional oxygen and nutrients to cells and improves waste removal. It positively affects the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine and immune systems in the body.
Massage works from the outside in, manipulating muscle and fascia to release tension and blockages. Reflexology stimulates the nervous system within to release tension, boost the immune system and assist with natural healing.
