PPE Experiments

We were sitting around panicking a bit. Fretting about having to play doctors and nurses. I mean, I remember enjoying it when I was seven, but this head-to-toe PPE thing the German salons started, freaked us hairdressers out a bit. And anyway, wouldn’t it be professional cultural appropriation? Not very woke is it.

So we thought of being a bit more creative with our outfits, and frankly we were quite enjoying it. Practising our routines. A bit of am-dram at work. But then lo and behold Boris announced that we’d only have to wear visors. Probably for the best.

Behind the Scenes

My brother-in-law, Lee Sheward, is a stunt coordinator/film director and happened to be in town. I’m not sure organising a green screen so I could fly around the salon will make it to his CV. His more celebrated works include far more exciting adventures like Bond films, Indiana Jones, Mission Impossible, Titanic etc.

Something about the allure of space had 97-year old mum and the twins dressing up too.

Kazz had been paying a lot for hair colouring and for regular Olaplex treatments over the years. Yet her extremely damaged hair quality was something I regularly see. Unnecessarily weak thin broken hair, and dull colour.

How many Bobs have you got?

These quick clunky haircuts are becoming prolific as hairdressers become less and less able to layer hair properly. Emily had the very common 3-step Bob. The baseline, a step four inches off the bottom, and a sort of torn irregular piece suggestive of a long
