In the Chair - Real People Real Hair - Bridie

Fiddling too much with your hair? Taking too long to blowdry your style, that then doesn’t last? Resigned to thinking you’ve got bad hair? I bet you haven’t.

A great haircut transforms how you look, feel, and also how you think about your hair. It’s the most important part of your hairstyle and should do most of the work. If it’s not cut well, you'll work harder and feel less confident.

But what was wrong with Bridie’s haircut?

Bridie’s hair had a basic one length-outline, with two steps cut at the front. Hairdressers tell you this is layering. It’s not. It’s a step which is clearly a mistake in my book. All the benefits of this haircut are to the hairdresser. It takes about two days to learn how to do this haircut. (I’ve taught non-hairdressers to do this most basic outline in an afternoon) and it takes ten minutes max to cut. Really not fair to the client.

Because these weren’t proper layers, the hair just hung flat and lifeless. If Bridie pushed her hair back away from her face, the two steps had no layers to connect to so just stuck out making the hair look frizzy and dry at the ends.

Correcting the cut

Left Image: Graduation connects the outline.  Right Image: Layering lifts the shape and gives it life.

It needed proper graduation and sculpting to connect all the layers and restore natural body. Vibrant hair looks youthful and moves - a leaden hairstyle adds years.

Colour

Diana our colourist, did an amazing job of introducing contrast with darker and lighter lights. Then she applied a warm gloss toner.

Bridie’s finished hairstyle looks polished but at ease. It blends seamlessly, whilst beautifully enhancing her features. A refined, elegant look that’s complementary to an aura of beauty and wellness. Home blow drying is simple for Bridie now as the haircut carries the style.

I was blown away by my time in the Salon - it was an incredible experience from the moment I walked through the door until I left. It was very special, too, to have Michael cut my hair and to see his work close at hand - he really is a magician with scissors and utterly charming.
I would say that the difference as soon as Michael had finished cutting my hair was instantly noticeable. The shaping and cut created a feel of movement and thickness to the hair and Diana’s clever low lights added a natural warmth, depth of colour and brightness to my hair. The fall, texture, shine and health of my hair has continued to improve since my visit and it is easier than ever to style at home. The experience was incredible from start to finish and I will definitely be returning in the future!’Bridie

I love long hair. But sometimes you can have too much of a good thing, and if it’s not cut properly it can drown the wearer and make shampoo-days a dreaded event. Tara had gorgeous hair but the haircut had no shape. Just the usual...

I don’t normally start by showing the back. But the breakage and damage was so bad that the entire top portion at the back had snapped off. Kazz had been paying a lot for hair colouring and for regular Olaplex treatments over the years. Yet her extremely damaged hair quality was something I regularly see. Unnecessarily weak thin broken hair, and dull colour.

How many Bobs have you got?

These quick clunky haircuts are becoming prolific as hairdressers become less and less able to layer hair properly. Emily had the very common 3-step Bob. The baseline, a step four inches off the bottom, and a sort of torn irregular piece suggestive of a long
