I don’t want you to think I’m scissor-happy. Sometimes we can make a major adjustment to correct the shape without losing any length. I cut Andreea’s hair dry and sent her off to Diana for colour. By the time Saori had blowdried it, even I did a double take. Nothing had changed except the hair, but what a transformation.
The cut is the most important part of your hairstyle and should do most of the work. Badly cut hair will quietly drain your confidence, and dry or wavy hair will look much frizzier, as with Andreea’s hair before we went to work. And many of the hair products that tame frizz for today, create more frizz tomorrow. (Silicone-rich anti-frizz products in particular). Read Why Silicone is Bad for Your Hair
Andreea’s haircut was typical of the corrective work I do for new clients. It had a blunt outline with no layers that left the front tips dangling long, wispy and frizzy. Correcting Andreea’s hair meant removing excess length at the front and layering the lower layers properly at the back.
If you’re resigned to thinking you’ve got bad hair, help is at hand. We have the techniques and the products to care for wavy or curly hair and banish frizz.
We wanted to inject life and movement into the hair and for this we needed proper shaping and layers followed by some cleverly placed colour to give a little intrigue and tonal depth to the whole effect.
Using our signature Diamond Dry Cut™ method, I took a graduated outline and sculpted face-framing layers through to the back. This gave a great shape even without blowdrying. We then moved onto colour.
Diana used a combination of foils and balayage to create a warm yet bright textured effect, giving dimension and contrast to the colour. This play on tonal juxtaposition, also helps enhance a sense of movement in the hair.
Key products for Andreea’s hair were LifeSaver Prewash. This a not an oil-based treatment and you cannot overuse LifeSaver®. It feeds, hydrates and strengthens without weighing hair down and gives vibrancy to all hair types.
Cashmere Protein UV Protective Shampoo and Conditioner nourishes the hair and protects the colour. In fact, nothing we’ve come across keeps colour better than this trio of hero products.
Saori blowdried the hair smoother keeping lots of body. Andreea’s finished hairstyle moves and blends seamlessly and is simple for her to style at home in many different looks.
“Thanks again for everything. I am in love with my hair. I was very spoilt today. One lucky lady!I feel totally different and can’t believe how amazing it looks.“- Andreea
For Andreea’s hair we used LifeSaver Prewash Treatment to rehydrate, then Cashmere Protein UV Protective Shampoo and Conditioner.
A little Thicker Quicker blowdry spray and Volumising Mousse helped give body and control. We used the Large Round Brush to give body and style. Then finally a little Ten Second Transformation to feed and smooth the ends of the hair giving a little shine and texture too.

How many Bobs have you got?
These quick clunky haircuts are becoming prolific as hairdressers become less and less able to layer hair properly. Emily had the very common 3-step Bob. The baseline, a step four inches off the bottom, and a sort of torn irregular piece suggestive of a long
