In the Chair - Real People Real Hair - Deborah

Flat one length hair can look cute when your eleven but quite brutal as an adult. Add a few holes, steps and overprocessed colour, and then it really offers very little to help brighten our day.

But if you think you’ve got bad hair, help is at hand. We have the techniques and the products to show you a remarkable transformation. Deborah’s hair wasn’t flattering her and she struggled to style it.

This is what we did…

1. Cut -The haircut is the most important part of your hairstyle and should do most of the work. If it’s not cut well you will work harder and feel less confident. Deborah’s hair hung lifeless and leaden. Her A-Line one-length outline had a couple of step layers and was much shorter on one side. The hard, blunt fringe topped off the heavy curtain sides offering no softness or framing.

The Diamond Dry Cut is my natural method of sculpting. We cut hair dry to see the shape evolve in much the same way as Canova would approach a marble bust. Deborah’s hair can now move fluidly and fall effortlessly back into place.

2. Condition - The original haircut had dry uneven ends at the front which made them look frizzier. When hair becomes this dry and decayed its more difficult to manage and styles don’t last long.

We gave Deborah a LifeSaver Prewash Treatment. Nothing injects moisture, elasticity and shine quite like this. Deborah will now continue at home with this unique system of Healthcare for Hair®. Read… The Facts of LifeSaver®

3. Diana our talented Colourist wanted to get a more natural and flattering result for Deborah. The hair was previously over-coloured and uneven. Brassy at the back, white and pale at the front washing Deborah’s skin tone out. She deepened the root colour and using a combination of toners evened out the rest to create a seamless attractive finish.

Deborah’s finished haircut and colour blends seamlessly, whilst beautifully enhancing her features. A refined, elegant look that’s simple for Deborah to style at home.

“In recent years my hair has got worse. Despite buying quality products and paying for what should have been decent haircuts, nothing was making any difference to the condition or shape.

When I read Michael's post on Facebook about silicone, it all fell into place. I purchased the Luxury Starter Set immediately. I was so excited to then have my hair cut by Michael. I could see from all the pictures that he really understands hair and would be able to help get me "my" hair back again.

I could see the shape emerging as he cut and knew that it was going to be fabulous. I’ve washed and styled my hair today at home and it fell into place so well. I didn’t think my hair could feel this good. I love it ...and was wondering if Michael would like to re locate to Dorset? - Deborah

For Deborah’s hair we used LifeSaver Prewash Treatment to rehydrate, then UV Protective Shampoo and Conditioner. A little Thicker Quicker blowdry spray and Volumising Mousse helped give body and control. We used the Large Round Brush to smooth. Then finally a little Ten Second Transformation to feed and smooth the hair giving a little shine and texture too.

I love long hair. But sometimes you can have too much of a good thing, and if it’s not cut properly it can drown the wearer and make shampoo-days a dreaded event. Tara had gorgeous hair but the haircut had no shape. Just the usual...

I don’t normally start by showing the back. But the breakage and damage was so bad that the entire top portion at the back had snapped off. Kazz had been paying a lot for hair colouring and for regular Olaplex treatments over the years. Yet her extremely damaged hair quality was something I regularly see. Unnecessarily weak thin broken hair, and dull colour.

How many Bobs have you got?

These quick clunky haircuts are becoming prolific as hairdressers become less and less able to layer hair properly. Emily had the very common 3-step Bob. The baseline, a step four inches off the bottom, and a sort of torn irregular piece suggestive of a long
